JEHOVAH-ROHI
INTRO
1. Review a few of the names of God that we have learned thus far:
Elohim Jehovah-jireh Jehovah-shalom
Jehovah Jehovah-nissi Jehovah-Tsidkenu
El-Shaddai Jehovah-rophe
Adonai Jehovah-MKaddesh
2. Jehovah-rohi means the Lord is my Shepherd.
3. This name gives us the most tender and intimate relationship between God and His people.
4. The primary meaning of rohi is "to feed" or "lead to pasture," as a shepherd does
his flock.
5. There are many references to the Lord being our Shepherd.

I. OLD TESTAMENT
A. Note:
1. The Shepherd of Israel
a) Read Psalm 80:1...
"Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock;
thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth."
b) Read Isaiah 40:10,11...
"Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand,
and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him,
and his work before him.
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd:
he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom,
and shall gently lead those that are with young."
c) We really are like sheep. Consider how dumb sheep are to follow
a "shepherd" that is really a bad shepherd, like Jim Jones or
David Karesh of Waco.
d) Our Shepherd does not beat us the first time we get out of line.
He GENTLY leads us.
Even His chastisement is his LAST RESORT to get us in line.
2. The Shepherd Seeks His Lost Sheep
a) Read Ezekiel 34:11-16.
b) The shepherd does not drive the sheep; they simply follow him.
3. We Are His Sheep
a) Read Psalm 100:3...
"Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us,
and not we ourselves;
we are his people, AND THE SHEEP OF HIS PASTURE."

II. NEW TESTAMENT
A. Note:
Proofs Jesus Is Our Loving Shepherd:
#1. Hebrews 13:20 says...
"Now the God of peace, that brought again
from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant..."
#2. I Peter 2:25 says...
"For ye were as sheep going astray;
but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls."
#3. Read John 10:1-18.a) God knows you by your name.
b) God leads by going before us.
c) You must know Gods voice. {You should have heard this voice, a
still, small voice, in your prayer life.}
d) Jesus is the Door.
e) The true sheep will not follow the stranger.
f) Eventually, there will be no denominations... "one fold."
