II. THE PERSON OF JEHOVAH IS OUR PEACE

A. Five Great Truth of the Peace of Jehovah:

1. Jehovah is sensitive to the needs and sorrows of His children.

"And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people

which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows."

(Exodus 3:7)

"And they put away the strange gods from among them,

and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel."

(Judges 10:16)

a) God does care about your pain and misery.

b) God does desire to give your heart peace.

2. Jehovah has a desire to give us His peace.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD,

thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."

(Jeremiah 29:11)

a) This is God’s attitude towards us.

b) Isaiah 48:18 says...

"O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments!

then had thy peace been as a river,

and they righteousness as the waves of the sea..."

c) It was even the high priestly benediction. (Numbers 6:23-26)

3. The very presence of Jehovah is one of peace.

a) This is why Gideon asked the question in Judges 6:13.

b) There was no peace in Israel because Jehovah’s presence was

not there.

c) IF the Lord is with us, WHY are we having all this trouble.

d) Once he spent time with Jehovah, Gideon found the peace of God.

4. Jehovah abides with those who abide with Him.

a) Read II Chronicles 15: 1-3.

"...THE LORD IS WITH YOU, WHILE YE BE WITH HIM..."

b) Were you with the LORD this morning? Did you spend time

in His presence? Perhaps, that is why some of our days go

so poorly for us.

5. We must know Jehovah-MKaddesh (the LORD who sanctifies us) before we can know Jehovah-Shalom, for God only gives His peace to those who are righteous before Him.

a) Read Isaiah 26:2-4.

III. JEHOVAH-JESUS IS OUR JEHOVAH-SHALOM

A. Seven Great Truths of the Peace of Jesus:

1. Jesus is the Supplier of peace to the Christian.

a) Read John 14:27...

"Peace I leave with you, my PEACE I give unto you:

not as the world giveth, give I unto you.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

b) Whenever you are in a frenzy, that is you do not have the

peace of mind that you should have, something is wrong

SPIRITUALLY. It is time to take a spiritual inventory of

your life.

c) Read John 16:33...

"These things I have spoken unto you,

that in me ye might have PEACE.

In the world ye shall have tribulation:

but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

2. Jesus is the “Prince of Peace.”

a) Isaiah 9:6 says...

"...and His name shall be called....Prince of Peace."

3. Jesus provided our peace for us by His own death.

a) Romans 5:1, 10 says...

"Therefore being justified by faith,

we have PEACE with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

For if, when we were enemies,

we were reconciled to God by the DEATH of his Son,

much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."

4. The measure of peace that we have in Him is determined by our sanctification and trust in Him.

a) Read Phil. 4:6-9.

5. The peace of God comes through spiritual mindedness.

a) Read Romans 8:6...

"For to be carnally minded is death;

but to be spiritually minded is life and PEACE."

b) You can control your thought-life. If you do not have peace it

is very likely that your thought-life is wrong.

6. Peace is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

a) See Galations 5:22, 23.

7. Glory must always be given to god first before peace can come.

a) Luke 2:14 says...

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

b) This peace that passes all understanding, must be coupled with

giving God the glory.

c) When you give God the glory, God will give you His peace.
